Following his career in industry, with positions at Bertelsmann, Continental and ultimately as CFO of the SME machine engineering company J Sandt AG, he helped to develop the executive search firms Eurosurvey and Mülder & Partner in Germany from 1974, the latter in the capacity of co-founder and partner. Following the sale of that business, he became a Senior Partner at Heidrick & Struggles, Berlin, and now, per July 2007, he is the Managing Partner of DEININGER CONSULTING GmbH, Berlin, focusing on family businesses in various industries – from durable consumer goods to a diversity of supply industries.
